Main Springville, UT y since 1S24 TIHE HED VICE imvxmmmm PUBLIC NOTICE: YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND A PUBLIC SCOPING MEETING The U.S. Department of the Interior's Central Utah Project (CUP) Completion Act Office, on behalf of the June Sucker Recovery Implementation Program QSRIP), is preparing an Environmental Assessment for public review on a proposed stream channel design project for lower Hobble Creek, a tributary to Utah Lake in Springville, Utah. The Environmental Assessment will be prepared under the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (42 U.S.C. 4321 et seq.) and the Council on Environmental Quality regulations (40 CFR 1500. All interested citizens are invited to attend an upcoming public scoping meeting to learn more about the project and to provide input. The public scoping meeting for this project will be held: Wednesday, December 5, 2007 5:00 to 7:00 p,m. Springville Junior High School 165 South 700 East Springville City, Utah The project proposes to reconstruct a portion of Hobble Creek to support a spawning population of June sucker Chasmistes lioru$, a federally listed endangered fish native to Utah Lake. The stream channel modification would be limited to a 21-acre parcel in Springville City owned by the State of Utah and located between 1-15 and Utah Lake. The project entails designing a new stream channel that best suits June sucker spawning and rearing. The establishment of a self-sustaining spawning population of June sucker in the Utah Lake system, outside of the Provo River, was identified as a de-listing criterion in the June Sucker Recovery Plan (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 1999), The public scoping meeting will include a brief project presentation and a question and answer period.
