Show 16 SPRINGVILLE HERALD Thursday, November 2, 2006 Sixth Gear; 2006 Chrysler Town & Country mini van Daniel Souza STAFF WRITER " I said that last week, but I had to squeeze one more 2006 model before definitely definite-ly moving on to the '07s. Why? Because minivans are all around us. It's just a fact, most Utahns have big families and the minivan comes in handy more often most would like to admit. So here I am, reviewing one of the most popular vehicles around. Although the Town and Country is not one of the latest releases from Chrysler it's been around for 16 years, our test drive came equipped with enough bells and whistles to take a few inches of newsprint and tell you about it. This week's test drives comes with a nifty feature most haven't heard about. Chrysler calls it Stow 'n Go. The Stow 'n Go seating and storage system features second- and third-row seats that easily fold into the floor in less than 30 seconds. With all seats in the upright positions, posi-tions, there is an available 12 cu. ft. of storage space. The second-row has two f airly-sized, covered storage bins with 6 cu. ft. of available avail-able space, while the third row has an available 6 cu. ft. storage area with built-in built-in grocery bag hooks. For 2006, Chrysler Group modified modi-fied the second-row storage bin covers with a tri-f old access ac-cess panel that allows easier access to the covered storage stor-age bins and doesn't require moving the front driver or passenger seat forward. Chrysler is so proud of its Stow 'n Go system which was introduced back in 2005 that it denotes specific specif-ic name settings. They are: Family (all seats in the upright up-right position) Limousine (second-row t4 fc yri ( ; --f t , v. seats stowed in the floor, third-row seats upright) Cargo (second- and third-row third-row seats stowed in the floor for a total of 160.7 cu. ft. of cargo capacity) Tailgate (third-row seats flipped rearward with rear hatch open for covered seating seat-ing while parked And as cliche as it may sound, storage alone doesn't do any good without an engine en-gine to take its passengers around. The 2006 Chrysler Town & Country Limited model includes a standard 3.8-liter V-6 engine with 205 horsepower and 240 lb.-ft. of torque mated to a four-speed transmissioa The Town & Country Limitedthere Lim-itedthere are other less packedexpensive trims includes in-cludes power adjustable pedals, ped-als, tire pressure monitoring system, overhead console rail system with moveable removeable storage modules, mod-ules, luxury carpeting, Satin . Remember that I haven't included the optional option-al equipment here. All you read comes standard with the limited trim. Now, I understand as a good and competitive buyer you do your research. Well I'm here to help, so here it goes; the optional list follows: fol-lows: Optional equipment offered on the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country Limited includes supplemental three-row three-row side-curtain air bags, power sun roof, UConnect hands-free communication with Bluetooth technology, technol-ogy, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Trailer Tow Prep Group that includes a suspension with load-leveling and height control, con-trol, and rear seat video system. sys-tem. How's that for a check list? For your information, Chrysler has added a few exterior color options for the 2007 year model. But if you still would like to get a brand new model without paying for the '07 badge to accompany your next mini-van, mini-van, I would recommend helping clearing the local lots and snatching yourself a '06 of one of these. Expect 18 mpg for in-city driving and around 25mpg on the highway. .
