Show Page Eight - The Springville Herald - January 8, 2004 OBITUARIES Winford S. Rowley Winford Smilh Rowley, Sr., age 78, of Springville, Utah, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 of natural causes. He was born February 3, 1925 in Helper, Utah to Franklin Irvin and Florence Flor-ence Forsyth Rowley. He married Mini Leodie Flowers who preceded preced-ed him in death. He is survived by four sons: Winford S. Rowley, Jr., Lamont F. Rowley, Kevin F. Rowley and Curtis S. Rowley, and three daughters: daug-hters: Sherry Lee Casper, Shanna F. Wagstaff and Gale Behrmann. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 3, in Springville. Interment was in the Springville R. Brent (Brentie) Pickering Jr. City Cemetery. Brent "Brentie" Pickering Jr. Beloved son, Ronald Brent Pickering Jr., died December 29, 2003 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. Brentie was born on August 17, 1976 to Dorothy Witherell and Ronald Brent Pickering Sr. in Ashton, ID. He attended the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind in Ogden and most recently the ATEC day training center in Lin-don. Lin-don. He was residing at the Lehi Men's Group Home in Lehi at the time of his death. In his 27 years on earth Brentie Bren-tie endeared himself to countless people with his infectious, mischievous mis-chievous laugh, his strong will and his loving personality. Brentie loved life and especially people. . He endured much but fought a good fight and returns home to his Heavenly Father with honor. All who knew and loved him will dearly miss him. Brentie is survived by his parents of Springville; eight siblings: sib-lings: Catina LeeAnn (Ryan) Nichols, Nic-hols, Levan; Meilani Ann Pickering, Picker-ing, Salt Lake City; Julie Ann (Shaun) McCormick, Lehi; Robert Jay (Kristi) Pickering, Mapleton; Paul Michael Pickering, Spanish Fork; Kristen Julie (Malt) Stread-beck, Stread-beck, Glendale, CA; Emily Esther Pickering, Winona, MO; and Andrew James Pickering, Springville; Spring-ville; grandmother Alma Jewel Pickering, Yuma, AZ; Uncle Paul Sherman Pickering, Sandy; Aunts, Patricia Ann Gibilterra, Garden Grove, CA and Mary Ina Witherell, Wither-ell, Reno, NV; and several nieces and nephews. Grandparents Robert Owen and Esther Lois Scroggins Witherell, Grandfather Jay Willard Pickering, and Uncles Gary Jay Pickering and James Michael Witherell preceded him in death. The family thanks the ICU staff and physicians at UVRMC for their care and kindness to , Brentie and his family. Thank you, also to all those at the Lehi Men's Home for their love and care and to all who have helped make Bren-, tie's journey on this earth a truly special one. Absentee ballots may be obtained by any person otherwise eligible to vote at the special voted leeway election but who (a) is physically, emotionally, or mentally impaired; (b) will be serving as an election judge or who has election duties in another voting precinct; (c) is detained or incarcerated incarcer-ated in a jail or prison as a penalty for committing a misdemeanor; (d) has a legal disability; (e) is prevented from voting in a particular location because of religious tenets or other strongly-held personal values; (f) is called for jury duty in state or federal court; or (g) otherwise expects to be absent from the voting precinct in which the eligible voter resides during the hours the polls are open in Utah County on the day of the special voted leeway election, by making application in the manner and within the time provided by law, either by mail or in person, at the office of the County Clerk, at the Utah County Administration Building, 100 East Center Street, Suite 3600, Provo, Utah 84606. Any eligible voter who is hospitalized or otherwise confined to a medical or long-term care institution after the deadline for filing an application for an absentee ballot in the manner and within the time provided by law may obtain an absentee ballot by sending another person to obtain ob-tain the absentee ballot on his or her behalf at the office of the County Clerk, at the Utah County Administration Building, 1 00 East Center Street, Suite 3600, Provo, Utah 84606. PUBLIC NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that on Wednesday, February 1 1, 2004, that being a day not later than ten days after the special voted leeway election, the Board of Education of Nebo School District will meet at the Board's offices, 350 South Main, in Spanish Fork, Utah, at 6:00 p.m. and will canvass the returns and declare the results of the special voted leeway election. Pursuant to Sections 53A-1 6-1 10(2) and 11-14-12 of the Utah Code Annotated 1953, as amended, the period allowed for any contest of the special voted leeway election shall end forty (40) days after February 11, 2004 (the date on which the returns of the election are to be canvassed and the results thereof declared). No such contest shall be maintained unless a complaint is filed with the Clerk of the Fourth Judicial District Court in and for Utah County, within the prescribed forty (40) day period.
