In this country, every man is the architect of his own ambitions. 7 I "isfe mm Book Review by Ellen Those of you who enjoy romantic novels, might especially espe-cially enjoy reading Kathleen Morgan's "Embrace the Dawn." The story is based in Scotland in the 1860's and involves a young woman from the Colonies who married mar-ried a Scotsman and went with him and their young son to visit the Scottish Highlands High-lands and his clan. At least she thought it was a visit. Her husband is a man of violence towards his wife and child, but managed to keep that a secret from his clan. As Killian fights for her own life and that of her son, she is forced to seek asylum with another Scotsman, Ruarc, rumored to have murdered his own wife a few years previously. Unfortunately, she finds herself living in a situation where she doesn't know who she can trust. Ruarc's stepmother step-mother and half-brother have long hated him and have hatched many diabolical plans to rid themselves of him and take over the castle and its lands. More than once she finds the stepmother's web of deceit wrapping around her and threatening her happiness and safety. Killian doesn't know who she can bare her soul too, and fears that she can't trust the several servants ser-vants in the castle. Along with the inner turmoil that the castle residents resi-dents are facing, there is a political plot brewing to destroy Ruarc and turn out all of his clan from off their lands. The castle priest filters through the story, teaching love, faith and endurance to those who will listen. Storms and war convolute the tale, taking lives and building tension. Killian focuses on the murder of Ruarc's first wife for which he is blamed, and on Ruarc's relationship with her former brother-in-law Adam, who Ruarc blames for the death of his wife. Killian finds strength beyond her means as Georgia Erickson Quilt Fair in Provo The Utah Valley Quilt Guild has a membership of over 300 people with members mem-bers from Nephi to Ogden.
