Great-grandparents are John DeHaas of Springville, Robert and Violet Humes of American Fork and Beverly Wengreen of Orem. u V . f- Emma Nicole Fisher, daughter of Jeff and Kristi Overly Fisher of Portland, Maine, celebrated her first birthday on June 11, 1999. Her grandparents are Dahnelle Overly of Springville and the late Roger Overly, the late R. Lynn Fisher and Robert and Carolyn Pratt of Hender-' son, Nevada. The Springville Playhouse will offer an hilarious 1920s British farce as its summer production beginning Friday, July 30. "Tons of Money" will continue contin-ue on July 31 and August 2, 6, 7 and 9 at the playhouse, located on the lower level of the Springville Spring-ville Civic Center, 50 S. Main (below the Springville Public Library). All performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 ($4 students and senior citizens). citi-zens). This production is the playhouse's playho-use's second Youth Theater Guild production. It is cast with students stu-dents ages 14-18 and directed by James McGregor. Producer is Jillian Huish. "Tons of Money" is a comedy about Aubrey Allington, played by Tyler Thorstrom. Aubrey is an unsuccessful inventor with a long list of . debts. When the discovery of a large inheritance promises to relieve his financial distress, Aubrey's elation is quickly destroyed by the realization realiza-tion that his newly acquired "tons of money" will go straight into the hands of his creditors. However, in the event of Aubrey's death, the money is to go to his presumed dead cousin, George Maitland. So, following his wife's (Laurel Asay) scheming, schem-ing, Aubrey stages his own death to return as his cousin, thus collecting the inheritance and avoiding the debts. The conniving couple's plan goes awry when their butler (C.J. Medram) comes up with his own scheme to acquire the money and some guests arrive and entangle themselves in the chaos. Other actors in the production are Shannon Minch, Angela Allred, Andrea Keddington, John McGregor, Nathan Hinkley, Michael Roberts and Justin Rit-ter. Rit-ter. "Tons of Money" is by Will Evans and Valentine, as adapted by Alan Ayckbourn. The Springville Playhouse offers four productions a year, including a youth production in the summer. D Ir- n I Dr. Douglas Smoot, center, was the speaker at last week's meeting of the Springville Kiwanis Club. His wife, Marion, formerly of Springville, attended with him. Bliss Packard was the toastmaster. Smoot told about the planning, negotiations and legal work that has gone into saving Academy Square in Provo. On July 1 a contract was signed that will permit the renovation of the old BYU buildings into a library for Provo city. The new library will have three times as much space as the present one and will be completed in 19 months.
