A I : - - ., v - ' - j i z ; - . .' - . Vi : Lacey and Sydney Carnesecca just returned home from Shawnee, Oklahoma and Fallon, Nevada in National High School Rodeo Competition. Sydney took third in state for pole bending during the Utah State Finals this past June, which qualified her for the National High School Finals Rodeo in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She had some bad luck with a five second penalty which cost her a chance to run in the championship round in Oklahoma. Lacey went into the championship round in the Silver State International Rodeo Finals in Fallon, Nevada in barrel racing taking sixth place overall. Lacey was elected State Secretary for 1992-93 of the Utah State High School Rodeo Association. Both girls compete in four events: barrel racing, pole bending, goat tieing and breakaway calf roping. They are practicing hard to start the fall season this August for the 1992-93 season. Lacey is shown in the top photo and Sydney in the bottom one. Volleyball tryouts start Mon. Any girl interested in trying out for the 1992-93 Springville High School volleyball Team should know that TIMES FOR TRY-OUTS HAVE CHANGED. Try-outs will begin August 17 at 3 p.m. at SHS for those girls who will be trying out for the J.V. and Varsity teams. This includes Seniors, Juniors and those Sophomores who played last year. Try-outs will run from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, August 17. Try-outs on Tue. and Wed., August 18 and 19, will go from 8 to 1 1 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. Try-outs for incoming Freshman Fresh-man and Sophomores who did not play last year, will begin Wednesday, August 26, at 3 p.m. at Springville High School. Try-outs Try-outs will run from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 27, 28 and 31. Kevin Peterson Pe-terson will serve as president. Assisting him will be Linda Poulson, vice-president; Leonard Pugh, president-elect; David Peterson, secretary; Denise Dallin, historian; and Ken Jo-hanseon, Jo-hanseon, past president. There were 126 participants in the four-person four-person scramble. The first-day winners were: Mens 18 holes, A group: Len Pugh, Mike Pugh, Brandon Pugh and Alan Gardner; B group: Dean Oldroyd, Earl Child and Barney Oldroyd. Mens 9 holes, A group: Lance Anderson, John Dunkley and Brent Dunkley; B group: Tim Smith, Randy Rymer and Dave Montaque. Shy recently returned from a week at the Transplant Olympics held at UCLA College in Los Angeles, California. Over 800 people from all over the nation participated. The 20 person team from Utah was made up of people who have received either a heart, liver, lung or kidney transplant. The Utah team came home with 17 medals, seven gold. Shy entered four events and won four gold medals, two in track and field and two in swimming. She competed in the 18 years and younger division. The Transplant Olympics will be held in Canada next year and Utah has made a bid for the 1994 games.
