Show Sign up now for Miss Springville Pageant February 15, - 'H)' Springville Herald - 111"' Lady Lion president, Mae Miller, is shown with Jaynann Payne and Rhea Jean Hancock, who presented the program at the Lady Lions Valentine Party Thursday. Jaynann gave a presentation on early american women titled 'American patriots in petticoats.' Rhea Jean sang and played the guitar. The beautiful Valentine decorations were prepared by Rhea Warren, War-ren, Marva Taylor, Evamae Elder, Reva White and Geraldine Wilson. The Miss Springville Pageant Committee is busy seeking contestants con-testants and sponsors for the April 28 pageant. Ranee Thorpe, Vicky Curtis, Vickie Murray, and Jeanne Strong have been making plans to make the event a positive experience ex-perience which all contestants will enjoy. Preparation workshops with individualized in-dividualized attention are planned to enable the contestants to gain confidence and feel more prepared. The hostess program was such a success last year, it is planned again for this years pageant. Each girl will have a hostess who will go through the entire format of pageant activities ac-tivities giving help and support. The contest will be limited to fifteen applicants. Applications will be accepted on a first come first served basis beginning February 22. Girls who wish to enter the pageant must be 18-26 18-26 years of age by October 31, 1984, and never "have been married. Application deadline is February 29. The pageant is entirely funded by the businesses and people in the community. Their contributions are very much appreciated. Entries due for Musettes Scholarship contest The Iviusettes of Springville announce an-nounce their annual music scholarship contest to be held March 14, 1984, at the Springville Museum of Art. The contest is open to all students of Springville High School except previous first place winners. Applications for vocal or instrumental in-strumental competition are available from the high school music department. 'Annie' to open at BYU today "Annie," the upbeat, joyous Broadway musical comedy hit about America's favorite little orphan, will open at Brigham Young University's de Jong Concert Hall today (Feb. 15) at 8 p.m. Directed by Max Golightly, the popular production will also run Feb. 16-18 and 21-25, with matinee performances Feb. 20 at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Drama Ticket Office, 378-3875. Holly Jo Markgraf, 11 year old daughter of Don and Emily Markgraf of Springville, is part of the cast of -Annie. Holly is a very talented singer and is playing one of the orphans in the show. Last summer Holly toured with the cast of 'Saturdays Warrior'. She has had many experiences singing and dancing. "The show is the original story of Little Orphan Annie's adjustment'to being an orphan and her subsequent adoption by the wealthy Daddy Warbucks," Golightly explains. "I must have had 20 people ask me very seriously just why this show has been so popular. My answer is that it appeals to the child in all of us. "It's the ultimate, ideal family show," he insists. "The only other literary counterpart is 'Heidi'-the little lost soul looking for love and affection. "We're all looking for a home that is bright and beautiful-and it's always going to happen 'Tomorrow," he says, referring to the show's optimistic anthem. Framed by a fun cartoon proscenium, the action will take place in front of a massive New York City skyline, with wagon units and "fly-in" sets depicting everything from the squalor of Hooverville to the glamor of Warbucks' mansion.
