Show KENNECOTT AND TWO UNIONS RENEW TALKS Kennecott Copper Corporation officials Thursday, yesterday, relumed re-lumed talk with representative! of two unions in Salt Lake City. The company held contract discussions dis-cussions with officers of the United Steelworkers of America and the International Association of Machinists. Mach-inists. Company officials and representatives represen-tatives of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers met Wednesday and issued a. joint statement saying that both sides were "in disagreement over many of the basic issues." Both parties agreed to a recess in negotiations pending resumption of talks early next week. "No agreement has yet been reached on any part of the company com-pany proposals," the joint statement state-ment said. The company is rumored to have offered the Mine-Mill union a five-cent five-cent acroso-the-board wage increase. However, .neither company nor union un-ion efficials would comment on the rumored offer. r |
