The new identification will indicate that the bearer is hard of hearing. It is not a restriction but rather information for police or others who see the license. The impaired hearing code is optional for those who desire to have this information shown - it is not required. A person desiring the new information included will file a simple certificate cer-tificate with a driver license office when obtaining ob-taining or renewing a license. Code "14" will be shown on the reverse side of the license and the words "impaired hearing" typed in. This procedure should improve communications between officers and hearing deficient drivers.
