LIST $5737 $5183 SALE 78 MONZA 1 4 Velma M.Hjorth VeSma Hjorth Funeral services for Velma Miner Hjorth, 84, who died Thursday, May 11, 1978, were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Springville Second LDS Ward Chapel. She was born Aug. 20, 1893 in Springville, a daughter of Don Carlos and Deliah Davis Miner. On Feb. 17, 1915, she married Otis A. Hjorth in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1976. She was an active member of the LDS Church. Surviving are three sons and three daughters, Mrs. James F. (Lois) Miller, Paul A. Hjorth, Hugh Hjorth, Carlos Hjorth, Mapleton; Mrs. Richard R. (Anna Marie) Texton, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Edwin T. (Florice) Thomas, Orem; 33 grandchildren, 55 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; one brother, Willard D. Miner, Tooele. Burial in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. The first British monarch to visit the United States was George VI in 1939. (Shorty) Smith Lawrence LeRoy (Shorty) Smith, 80, of 330 E. 500 S., Provo, died Saturday May 13, 1978 at Utah Valley Hospital of causes incident to age. He was born in Nephi, Feb. 5, 1898 to Thomas Lucas and Alice Bernetta Lund Smith. On Feb. 5, 1917 he married Pearl Dean Trickle in Delta, Colo. She died June 23, 1942. He later married Arleen Upchurch, June 4, 1944 in Nephi. Mr. Smith received his education in the Nephi Schools and later moved to Colorado where he was engaged in farming. He returned to Utah following the death of his first wife. He worked on the construction of the Geneva Steel plant, and drove taxis for the Yellow Cab Company of Provo. He retired from Thorn Construction Company in 1966. A member of the LDS Church, Mr. Smith also enjoyed gardening, camping and hunting.
