Interior of new library and media center at LDS Business College. Business college library finished The new library and media center is the top level of a two level building east of the Administration Ad-ministration Building. The lower level will house new classrooms. The library is designed to accommodate ac-commodate seating for more than 160 students; and will contain card files, newspaper and periodical browsing areas, a librarian's office, and group study facilities; in addition to nearly 6,000 volumes on book stacks. The $500,000 building includes a media center, equipped with the latest electronic elec-tronic facilities for individual study programs using video tape, slides, cassettes, and film loops. The new full-time librarian is Margaret Ryan, a graduate in library science from Brigham Young University. The new library and media center is just the latest step in a growth process that goes back to November 15, 1886, when the Salt Lake Stake Academy first opened its doors. Some 80 students were in attendance that first day in the Social Hall (now ine intersection of Social Hall Avenue and State Street). Demand for its services pushed expansion, and in 1889 the Academy became the LDS College. Moving from Social Hall to the Ellerbeck Building on West First North, then to the Lion House, and finally to its present location at 411 East South Temple, the LDS Business College has a rich and exciting heritage. It is the express purpose of "LD" to supply the business world with the most highly trained and competent people, and to do so in two years rather than four. Two year Associate Degrees are now offered in Accounting, Computer Technology, Fashion Merchandising, Mer-chandising, Marketing, Business Management and Administration. Ad-ministration. One year courses include Executive Secretarial, Stenographic, Clerk Typist and Bookkeeping. The College also offers other certificate courses in Court Reporting, Office Machines, Real Estate, Insurance In-surance and Modeling. Kiddies-Can-Do-H S&y&f' l HrKStfEL MAN rom mjAdam 3 () jp .
