Colt League championship playoffs being runoff at the North Park will wind up this evening when the undefeated Kolob Lumber nine faces the winner of the Zion Bank-Payson game of last night. The game begins at 6:30. Springville can claim the title if they win the contest. Should they lose, they will still have a title go when the two teams will play a second game in the double elimination tournament-type playoffs. Tuesday night the Kolob team, behind the outstanding pitching of Ron Dean, came out on top with a 6-0 victory over Payson who had previously won their opening game. Ron allowed only 4 hits, all of which were infield type while the Springville team connected with 7, two by Steve Hunt. The alert Kolob club did an outstanding job of base running, stealing and running on overthrown balls to capitalize on scoring. The championship playoffs began Monday at Spanish Fork where Payson defeated South Nebo 8-7. Buys was the winning pitcher with Steele the losing one. Kolob Lumber won the second game behind the pitching of Simpson, defeating Zions Bank 9-5. Forsling was the losing pitcher. In the first inning, Zions sent 9 men to bat and scored 4 runs. Kolob's left fielder, Ron Dean, hit a 2 -Out grand slam home run for a 5 run inning in the second. Zions threatened in the fourth with a 2 out single and runners at Some lucky ticket holder will be the winner of this ten speed bicycle being displayed by Ted Cox, right and his son Mark. The bike is being given to raise funds for the South Bronco league and will be given at noon July 24 at the Sage Creek Ball diamond. Tickets are being sold by league officers, coaches and players. Bronco section tournament scheduled here A Bronco section tournament will be held in Springville July 25 to 28 and hosted by the Hobble Creek League with Robert Sumsion acting as chairman of the tournment. Previous to this tourney a district tournament will be held in Vernal July 20, 21, and 22 from which the top three teams will enter the Springville tourney and compete with the Springville all-star team, seeded for the meet here. The local team will be coached by Mike Johnson and Jerry Smith. Other officials who will be working the tourney include Bill Carter, chairman of rules committee with other committeemen com-mitteemen being LaVar Felix, Frank Hunt.
