He is owned by Jack Mericle of Kenna, Idaho and is now five years old. This means he has another four or five years to do some more growing! He is 14 feet long, 11 feet two inches around, 64 inches tall, and his horns are 39 inches from tip to tip. He consumes 140 pounds of hay a day. With him in the picture are Shayne. Rick, and Tad Weight of Springville, owner Jack Mericle, and Bus Roundy. If you are meeting or following a school bus, be prepared to stop if the driver turns on his flashing red lights and stops to load or unload students. On most Utah highways high-ways the law requires you to stop and remain stopped as long as the red lights are flashing. This reminder from the Utah Safety Council. The Agriculture class went to the State Fair on Monday, 17th to observe the stock and other things. Elections were held Wed- Want pinenuts? Sorry, wait till next year! "Wait til next year." That was the advice of Bureau of Land Management district managers to persons wanting to gather pine nuts. William G. Leavell, BLM Acting State Director for Utah, said pine nut production throughout the state this year is "very poor." However, it takes two years for a pine nut crop to develop and the indications are that next year should be a prime year for pine nut harvesting, if the weather is favorable for their growth. Trees with mature cones this year are scattered and most cones are in the tops of the arger trees. There is a fair crop of Pinus edulis nuts but these are smaller and less palatable thaa the Pinus monophylla (single leaf pine) variety. nesday 12. The winners are: Scott Phillips, student body president; Shelia Smith, V.P..of assemblies; Cris Mecham, V.P. of activities; Debbie Binks, Secretary; Chris Da vies, Historian; Bret Boyer, Boys League Rep.; Jana Clements, Girls League Rep. We hope they will do a good job this year. Assembly tryouts will be held Tuesday 25 and Thurs. 27 for positions in assemblies all year round. The students were released from school Friday 21 early in order to see the Homecoming parade which was around 3:00. Students did not seem to object at the missing of classes.
