Sanford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Jeannette) Sanford, San-ford, and she celebrated her first birthday Wednesday, September 5th. Her grandparents grand-parents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sanford of Springville and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Henderson of Edinburgh, Edin-burgh, Scotland. y v. i IPS!" Could any little girl be any happier about being a whole year old than this? She is Maria Everett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wynn (Marian) Everett, of Mapleton. Her first birthday was Tuesday, August 14th. Grandparents' are Mr. and Mrs. Jess Everett, Mapleton, and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Burrows of Springville. . This lovely little miss is Lesli Lynn Diamond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Iris) Diamond of this city. She is looking happy because she celebrated her first birthday Tuesday, September 25th. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack B. Graves Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. James L. Diamond, all of Springville. That lovely little blossom among these fall flowers is Tracey Kessock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry (Linda) Kessock, of this city. She became one whole year old Monday, September 17th. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl S. Child of Spring-Springville. time the Herald went to press this week for a missing Springville woman in the canyon area east of the city. She is Mrs. Ella Snow Young, wife of Don L. Young. A group of more than fifty searchers began combing the area near the rifle range , after her car was discovered near there. The remodeled chapel of St. Nicholar Catholic Church was dedicated in rites held here this week. Officiating was Bishop DuaneG. Hunt of Salt Lake City, assisted by Father Arnold Paroline, O.F.M. A silo burst its seams on the farm of Glenn W. Coffman here last week. The 37-foot structure was nearly filled when cracking- sound warned workmen work-men to leave fast. No one was , injured. Over 100 tons of silage were spilled. New officers were elected for the city's two bowling leagues recently. For the Inter-City League, they are, Leonard Stone, President; Bert Palfreyman, first vice-president; vice-president; Floyd McPherson, second vice-president; Bill Ruff, third vice-president; and Lloyd Whitehead. In the Merchants League the new officers are Bill Ruff, president; Del Humphrey and Arvile Child, vice presidents; and Tressia Whitehead, secretary. Farewell and testimonial services were held last Sunday for Elder Max Vernon Hodson. He will represent the Ninth Ward in the Norwegian IDS Mission. Elder Hodson is the son of LeRoy Hodson. Mr. Harley Corliessen of the State Road Commission has been quoted by this newspaper as saying the Springville City could have a new white way lighting system installed along its Main Street if an application was made. Members of the city commission indicate that negotiations for this type of a project were in progress during the past summer but had ended after a meeting in late July, since which time the city has been awaiting a commission decision on the matter. 10 years ago ' "' Announcement of the coming of a new industry to Springville . has been made this week. The Arthur Imerman Undergarment Corporation has selected this city as a shipping distribution site. The north end of the celery plant at 400 West and 700 South will be utilized for this purpose. The operation will employ approximately ap-proximately seven people. Officer Owen Beardall of the Utah Highway Patrol was hospitalized this week with a skull fracture he suffered while investigating an altercation at Santaquin. Officers had been called to subdue a disturbance, and he was reportedly struck on the forehead with a lug wrench. It was indicated in reports from the Payson City Hospital that he may have to undergo surgery. Officer of the Springville High School chapter of the Future Farmers of America this week announced plans for what they hope will be a banner year of activities. The club officers are Bill Fullmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fullmer, president; Jud Harward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Harward, sentinal; Reed Barker, son of Mr. and MrsxHarold Barker, presidentelect; president-elect; Duane Allman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Allman, vice-president; vice-president; Darrell Bartholomew, Bar-tholomew, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Bartholomew, treasurer; John Harding, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Harding, secretary; Jack Daybell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Kirkwood, reporter; and Jim Bushman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Bushman, Bush-man, assistant reporter. The cast has been selected for . the upcoming Springville Playhouse production, "More Than Meets The Eye" it was announced today. Members are Merlin Fox, Diane Harris, Marshall Fox, Merle Schreiner, Louise Springer, Kathy Pabst, Robert Lauritzen, Patti White, i Donald Watts, and Mary Ann Schreiver. Woodrow Weight is directing and Shirl Weight will handle the lighting. Talent from Springville took' high awards at the state fair this week. Winners in the amateur division were Robert Stokes and Mary Lou Martin, with Sherry Pyper placing second. Kenny Goates and Denna Lyman teamed up to take first in the junior division.
