' Fish remains is topic of concern Union College, Schenectady, N.Y. had the largest enrollment of any college in America in 1830. Fish remains and how they are disposed of are subjects of concern to wildlife officers who are clamping down on litter violators at Utah Recreation Areas. When a fish "fives up the offal" of-fal" (viscera and trimmings) and establishes temporary residence in a creel, the angler becomes directly responsible for proper disposal of the remains all of them. Officers of the Division of Wildlife Resources will cite persons willfully violating litter laws by improperly im-properly discarding fish remains. Fish offal may be deposited in lakes and reservoirs provided it is done 100 feet or more from shore. Streams may receive such remains provided they are not left in the immediate vicinity of the shoreline. In both cases air bladders should be broken to facilitate sinking. Remains may not be discarded within 100 feet of shore, at shoreline or on shore itself. In these areas persons should dispose of them by burying in a suitable place on shore, depositing in a trash can, or carrying the remains home. Fish will usually taste as good as the fisherman will let them. A good way to retain fish at their highest edible quality is to clean them as soon as possible after catching. If left to die on a stringer there is a definite loss of flavor. ; After cleaning, fish may be washed but then quickly dried. Contact with liquids should be avoided since fish flesh absorbs moisture easily. Cooling may be done in an ice box but the fish should be arranged to allow natural moisture seeping from them to drain off.
