In the event of a dry year some water can be delivered to Salt Lake City next July, Mr. Larson said, Two sections of the aqueduct, one . at . either end of the route, will remain to be constructed 5H mile' section from Bridal Veil falls to Deer Creek- dam in Provo canyon and a 7-mile section from Little Cottonwood Creek .north, to" the Sam Parker reservoir in Salt Lake county where the aqueduct will end. The precast concrete -pipe for tht mue section of low head pipe line under construction is being manufactured in 20-foot lengths,, weighing from 20 to 23 tons each, with an Inside diameter of 69 inches and a reinforced shell 7ii inches thick. The pipe is being set in the ground -with a minimum cover of 3 feet and will withstand pressure under a static head - of .150 feet. The Salt Lake . aqueduct, a feature of the Provo River Pro ject, is being constructed by the bureau of reclamation for use by the metropolitan water district of Salt Lake City in accordance with the terms of the contract between the district and the United States. The board of directors of the district has worked very closely with the bureau of reclamation in obtaining the necessary priority prior-ity ratings to keep the construc tion of the. aqueduct in progress. water conveyed through the aqueduct will provide for the culinary needs of Salt Lake City and suburbs in years of drouth and when nrger populations re quire more water than obtainable from present sources.
