' ' The project is sponsored by the American Legion post but will be financed by the city. The building when completed will cost apprrJ-mately apprrJ-mately $15,000. Plans submitterr- by Architect Claude S. Ash worth of the Ash-woi Ash-woi th and Markham firm, Prqvo. call for a large amusement hall with legion., quarters and an auxiliary auxil-iary room inthe rear. It will be of brick construction, one story high. Fire,' some time ago practically destroyed the building leaving only four two-story brick walls. Since its destruction, the city has been without an adequate recreation hall. The I D. S. church has deeded the property, to the city. They have also contributed $3,000 toward the buiiding fund. A one-mill tax levied by the city council in the 1932 budget will raise $1161 toward the project. , It will take some time to clear the building ready for actual re construction, Jl IS WVIU. The work is expected to go rapidly rapid-ly forward, with a considerable sum of the estimated cost to be spent for labor. The work will be rotated and as far as possible only unem ployed men and heads of needy families will be hired. UTAH CONVICTS ARE ON TRIAL SALT LAKE CITY. Jan. 22. ttLR With visions of an execution in the forefront of their mind's eye, Robert Elliott and Delbei t Pf outzf, two younj convicts, stirred restlessly rest-lessly in their chairs Thursday as the state continued piling up evi dence which may send them to the gallows or before a firing squad. These two prisoners, both life termers, .ire charged with at tacking 'guards in the Utah state prison "red Wednesday" prison riot, last September 9. A Utah statute provides that any life term er who attacks a prison guard must pay with his life. In Utah a condemned man is given his choice of being hanged or executed by a firing squad. The large majority have chosen the Xiring equad. v Elliott and Pfoutz are being tried simultaneously in different courts. As. one witness concludes his testimony tes-timony in one court, he moves to the other. Evidence against each man is virtually the same. Egypt, Arabia and India lie in the same latitude as Florida. their-"taking" ways are cleverly woven into the story with gypsy songs and dances.
