(International) Veterans Find Less Difficulty In Low-Interest Mortgage Home Loans " Veterans today are experiencing experienc-ing less difficulty in obtaining low-interest mortgage financing for homes purchased with loansl guaranteed under the GI Bill than at any time in the past two years. .Veterans - 'Administration said that nearly 40,000 applications for GI home loan guarantys were received re-ceived from Renders in the month of October. This is the highest number received in -any month since November, 1947. ' Applications have been rising steadily since April. 1949. when the long downward trend was reversed, VA said. Thatcher Reports ' In Salt Lake City, C. I. That eher, VA. loan guaranty officer for Utah, said his office had re ceived 199 applications for home loan guarantys for Utah veterans during November, the highest number received In. one month during the past two years. A total of one-half million dollars dol-lars in home loans for Utah veterans vet-erans was approved during November, No-vember, the highest number, re ceived In one month during the past two years. A ttal of one-half million dollar! dol-lar! In home loans for Utah veterans, vet-erans, was approved during November. No-vember. Approximately half of this amount was guaranteed against loss to the lender by the VA, Thatcher said. , A combination of factors was cited as 'probably responsible for the upturn. VA said that an important im-portant influence was the large amount of mortgage money supplied sup-plied through the Federal National Na-tional Mortgage Association, a government corporation author-ized author-ized to buy GI loans from private lenders. j An increased willingness on the part of private investors to fi nance mortgage loans at 4 per cent interest the maximum rate chargeable on GI home loans and a greater availability of BMBaKSSMaSBBBBSSBBSBfSBBBs!laWaSS I lift rv: L .mil KING SIZE Western New York sportsmen are reaping a record crop of coon. Clarence Ackeley of Russell, Pa., stepped step-ped across the state line, and bagged this 48-pounder', the largest taken this season, which ends, Jan. 24. lower-priced homes were other important factors, VA said. .( The home-buying veteran's prospect of obtaining 4 percent mortgage financing should be even further improved by a new law which became effective October Oc-tober 23, 1949. This law expands the mortgage purchase authority of FNMA, permitting sale to the Government by private lenders of most GI mortgages without re striction. Of some 15 million World War H veterans eligible for GI loan guarantees, more than 1,700,000 have used part or all of their entitlement en-titlement to finance the purchase of a home, farm or business. Nearly 1,600,000 of them bought homes. Their VA guaranteed mortgages had a total face value of almost 9 billion dollars. - Thatcher said that 7,000 home loans, for a total face value of almost al-most 31 million dollars had been approved in Utah to date. Of this amount, VA's guaranty totals more than 16 million dollars. Eifht Years Left i r Eligible veterans have nearly 8 years left in which to use their loan guaranty rights. In view of this, and the fact that it is a benefit bene-fit which may be used but once, VA advised veterans to consider all factors carefully to avoid rushing into what may prove to be an ill-advised purchase. As protection against overpriced over-priced properties, VA requires that the selling price to the veteran vet-eran cannot exceed the reasonable reason-able value of the home in the current cur-rent market, as determined by a propter appraisal. Other advantages accrue to the veteran from the law and regulations regula-tions governing GI loans. A GI loan, unlike many mortgage loans, permits partial or total prepayment of the debt at any time without charge or penalty. VA also pays the lender, for credit to the veteran's loan account, ac-count, a cash gratuity payment equal to 4 percent of the amount guaranteed. Where the full $4,000 guaranty is used, this amounts to a gift of $160 to the veteran. Many veterans are unaware of these extra advantages available to them through a GI loan, VA said. Unidentified Man Just Happy Father ATLANTA (U.R) When Jack Clay took his new baby, Cheryl Lynn, home from the hospital he might have been mistaken for a bandit. Thegirl was born prematurely and weighed only three pounds, seven ounces. For seven weeks she remained in the hospital, until she reached five pounds, and her mother and father visited her every day, putting on antiseptic antisep-tic masks like the hospital staff. When the great day to take Cheryl Lynn home arrived, Clay and his wife put her in the car and climbed in. And that man in the mask was just a happy father. Clay absent-mindedly had put on his mask as he drove off. WHAT WORD WILL YOU USE? MltDEtT MELLOWER? SMOOTHER? LIGHTER?
