(Gary ParkerVernal Express) Gold Cross Ambulance increases staffing in Uintah County With the growing number of 911 emergency calls and the demand for ambulance service in Eastern Utah, Gold Cross Ambulance has enhanced its operation op-eration by expanding the staffing of 24-hour crews from its facility at 220 W. 100 S. in Vernal. On Dec. 1, Gold Cross Ambulance Ambu-lance added six full-time EMTs on 24-hour shifts at its Vernal station for quick response to all calls. This expansion by Gold Cross will allow for more efficient delivery of emergency medical services to meet the increasing demand. In addition, the company will continue to utilize over 30 part and full-time intermediate EMTs, paramedics and nurses in the area to respond in time of need. The company has six ambulance am-bulance units and one supervisor quick-response unit on site to manage any emergency medical ' situation in Eastern Utah. "We are indebted to the hard-working, dedicated medical professionals in Uintah County who continue to work with Gold Cross Ambulance to serve their community with competence and caring, " said Mike Moffitt, presi dent of Gold Cross Ambulance. Gold Cross Ambulance has been the exclusive provider of ambulance services in Eastern Utah since 1980 when Uintah County sought to change the delivery method of emergency services in the area. Gold Cross is dispatched through the Utah State Public Safety Dispatch Center and provides coordinated medical response to emergencies emergen-cies in Uintah, Duchesne and Daggett counties, along with the Ute Tribe reservation. When crews arrived they found a small stove fire that had spread to the attic of the cemetery office. Cemetery employees had extinguished the fire, but smoke coming from the attic was a concern, con-cern, fire officials said. Fire crews used an ax to cut a hole in the roof of the building, which houses cemetery offices on one side, and a storage shed on the other. All flames were extinguished and equipment within the shed was not damaged. dam-aged. If the proposed budget is approved, this would be an increase of 8.58 above the Daggett County property tax budgeted revenue for the prior year. The Daggett County tax on a $150,000 residence would increase from $326.95 to $328.40, which is $1 .46 per year. The Daggett County tax on a $150,000 business would icrease from $594.45 to $597.10, which is $2.65 per year. All concerned citizens are invited to a public hearing on the tax increase.
