Show B8 Wednesday, April 23, 2008 Vernal Express HIGH WINDS BRINGS IN THE DUST Winds on Sunday brought with them a very hazy atmosphere that reduced visibility to about few miles. From Vernal, the mountains to the north as well as Jensen to the east could not be seen. Wind gusts to 50 miles per hour caused minimal damage but people were out fixing fences and repairing shingles on roofs on Monday. -I P. ..I.l..... .,...,,,.T..m.l J , ,.,...... J -HI-HIP- I !. Ashley Valley farmer's market seeks applicants Basin area gardeners of fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs will finally have a place to sell their produce. Organizers of the Ashley Valley Farmers Market are scheduled open August in conjunction with the Alive After Af-ter Five festival in downtown Vernal. Currently proposed for the Old Dinosaur Garden next to the library there should be plenty of room for sellers and buyers. Shoppers can peruse the market and cross the street for cool music at the festival. The garden is centrally located lo-cated with parking for tourists and festival goers, so why not stop at the market? The gardens have the added advantage of shade trees, which is a welcome feature in the late summer heat. Vendors will be charged for a low-cost booth fee and even last-minute harvesters can find space in the garden. Three types of vendors are anticipated, including fresh produce pro-duce sellers, baked and prepared foods vendors and art marketers. Organizers cite several advantages advan-tages of buying locally: produce is fresh, economical, healthier, and likely to be grown by your friends. For information on the farmer's farm-er's market, contact Ashley Valley Val-ley Farmers Market at EO. Box 1246, Vernal, Utah 84078 or call voice mailbox 789-2836. Vendor applications are available at avfarmersmarket.googlepages. com. The new logo for the Ashley Valley Farmers Market shines brightly for all potential produce sellers and buyers. f r Wow!
