Show M3fteS2LOH2 B1 Wednesday, April 23, 2008 Express-lhkley's Photo Contest Winn "Some great and exciting photos were sent to us to be sure," said Express Publisher Kevin Ash-by Ash-by about the winter photo contest sponsored by the Vernal Express and Inkley's Photo in Vernal. "They represent a great cross section of winter in the Basin." More than 35 people entered 98 different photos in three categories: winter activitiessports; scenery and wildlife with an overall grand prize winner included. More than $500 of prizes were donated by Inkley's Camera and the Vernal Express ranging rang-ing from a digital camera, portrait settings to gift certificates and gift subscriptions. This contest was the first hosted by the Express where digital images would be judged as well as traditional prints. The next contest will be for spring and summer photos taken in the Ashley Valley and the Uintah Ba,sin, including the High Uintas to the north, the Bookcliffs to the South, Blue Mountion to the east and as far as the Strawberry Valley Overall winner: Dan Alonso, owl. to the west. Second place winners: Jolene Canet, enjoying the susset; Sam Wright's bald eagle; Tessa Zufelt's girls' basketball.
