Show Cami Cushing Cushing selected Utah's '07 Miss Rodeo The Beehive State's First Lady of Rodeo is Cami Cushing. A native of Sandy, the 23-year-old blonde has an inborn fondness for the western way of life. Raised on the back of a horse, her beauty shines inside the arena, on television televi-sion screens and is felt through her enthusiastic delivery on local radio stations. Cami is a graduate of the College Col-lege of Eastern Utah and was crowned last July by Gov. Jon Huntsman at Ogden Pioneer Days, Utah's top statehood celebration. She won four of the five judged events - personality, appearance, public speaking and photogenic. Since winning the title of Miss Rodeo Utah, Cami, as the official spokesperson and ambassador for western-oriented events in Utah, has crisscrossed the country coun-try to promote both her home state and the sport that she holds ,dear to her heart.'mi ti'.Z''CL, i Cami has traveied tor dozens of major, top talent rodeos, from Cheyenne Frontier Days CODY JENKINS 2007 Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo Legendary Cowboy Cody J enkins was born on July 28, 1994 in Vernal to Archie Dee and Clara Jenkins. He was their fourth child. He has two sisters, Estella Richens and Elaine Cor-less Cor-less of Vernal and one brother Karl Dee Jenkins of Diana, Texas. He was raised on the family ranch in Maeser, which he still farms today. During his childhood years he was active in 4-H and FFA. Although he was the baby of the family, his parents taught him strong work ethics and a love of animals and ranching. They also emphasized education and he obtained his degree in elementary elemen-tary education from Utah State University. To make money for college, he worked summers and holidays at the Gilsonite mine in Bonanza. He also served sixyears in the Utah National Guard. He married Gail Smith of Vernal Ver-nal in 1968 and they made their home on the ranch in Maeser. Her yearlong reign also will include appearances in Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, Idaho and even Mexico. In addition, Cushing, the first woman from the Salt Lake Valley to win the state crown, did her hometown proud at the Miss Rodeo America pageant. Cushing Cush-ing was named second runner-up runner-up at the end of the week-long pageant. When she's not on horseback, Cami enjoys shoe shopping, aerobics, four-wheeling with her family, scrapbooking and camping. camp-ing. He loved teaching and especially helping kids learn more about his favorite favor-ite subjects, science and social studies. During these years he continued to help his father on the ranch and acquire his own land and cattle. Since he retired from teaching, he has been able to combine both ranches and now runs 250 acres. He runs his cattle in an association on Taylor Mountain. The highlight of every year is roundup. Cody served as a director for the Uintah Cattleman's Association Associa-tion for many years and was a 4-H leader. He loves riding good horses, team penning, braiding ropes, and packing into the Uintas. His wife even got him to take her to Hawaii two years ago. He enjoys his grandchildren and teaching them about ranching. ranch-ing. She is the daughter of John Edward and Rosemary Fausett. Alexis graduated from Uintah High School in 2004. She is currently studying at Utah State University to be a chemical engineering specialist. Alexis has been active in FFA, parliamentary, parliamen-tary, judging and envirothon. Alexis enjoys operating heavy equipment, .riding and fishing. Alexis has dreams of someday owning and operating her own ranch. Alexis is excited represent the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo and encourages others to be more appreciative of rodeo. Christensen named 2007 Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo grand marshal Ladee Christensen was born Feb. 15, 1946 to Joseph Hyrum Mecham and Anges Mathews Mecham. She is the sixth of eight children. She moved several times before they settled in Venal. She lived in Yost, Uplco, Myton and Roosevelt. Injthe summer before she started school in Myton, My-ton, they lived in the mountains where her dad worked in the timber industry. She started working with her mother in Joe's Cafe in Roosevelt when she was 12 years old. Her mother ran the cafe and Ladee worked doingdishes, waiting and cleaning tables. This is where learned to make change. When she turned 15, she worked with her mother at the Trailways Cafe. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Kip and Marylou Baty. She is a junior at Box Elder High School. After graduating, Carly Jo plans on attending Utah State University and plans on majoring in psychology. Carly Jo is a very active member in high school rodeo. ro-deo. Ladee loves to be with her family, camp, fish, and music and look for rocks. She and her husband own 37 acres in Lapoint where the take care of their farm. At that time Jim and Debbie Davis, and Dr. and Mrs Burdett bought the store and opened IGA which later was Davis Jubilee in Vernal SEE MARSHALL on C2 Tuesday, Miss Uintah Tina Gregory is from Vernal. She is the 20-year-old daughter of Troy and Kaye Gregory. Tina graduated from Uintah High School with her associate's degree. de-gree. She has spent the last two school years attending Snow College aspiring towards a degree in business management. Tina enjoys softball, hunting camping and fishing. Tina loves life. Chenae will be a senior and Union High School where she is on the honor roll, a cheerleader and a member of the student body presidency. Chenae is very active in high school rodeo. She has took honors as rookie of the year, Wrangler All-Star, competing at the National Na-tional High School Rodeo for three years in the barrels, and Silver State High School Rodeo last year in the queen contest. From July 18 to 28, Chenae will be in Springfield, 111., competing compet-ing for the title of the National High School Rodeo Queen and also competing in barrel racing.
