Monday fire officials announced that the fire is 75 percent contained and crews will be cut back as focus shifts from suppression to containment. Areas on the Ute and Ouray Indian Reservation and Ashley National Forest remain closed, though officials have opened many areas. Forest Supervisor Kevin B. Elliott stated, "Public safety and firefighter safety is my number one priority and based upon our longtermassessmentof expected fire behavior the modification to our closure area will provide -for safety while increasing recreational rec-reational opportunities on the Forest." The modified closure area begins at the Ashley National Forest boundary at Forest Service Ser-vice Road 118, (Uinta Canyon Road), then north along the Uinta Canyon Road and Forest Service Trail 044, (Uinta River Trail), to the southern boundary of the High Uintas Wilderness Area, then northeast along the wilderness boundary to Forest Service Trail 025, (The Uinta Highline Trail), then east along the Uinta Highline Trail to the intersection of Forest Service Trail 075 near Deadman Lake, then south along Forest Service Trail 075, (Deadman Lake Trail), to Paradise Park Reservoir and Forest Service Road 104, then south along Forest Service Road 104 to the forest boundary, then west along the forest boundary ending at Forest Service Road 118, (The Uinta Canyon Road). Thedescribedsegmentsoffor-est Thedescribedsegmentsoffor-est system roads and trails which bound the closure area on the west, Uinta Canyon Road, and the developed recreation areas immediately adjacent to these roads, and the Uinta Highline Trail (075) are excluded from closure and will remain open until un-til further notice. Portions of the listed forest system roads which provide access to the interior of the closure area are not open for public travel. Forest users are reminded as they recreate on the Ashley National Na-tional Forest that fire restrictions are in affect across the state and campfires are not allowed outside out-side of developed campgrounds and approved campfire rings.
