Scout ties quilts for women in need Laura and Roger Hacking Maureen and Glenn Spencer Kyle Butler made 17 quilts for the women's shelter as his Eagle Scout project. The quilts were hand-tied by Kyle and 37 friends and family members. The quilts were tied in one day. Women staying at the shelter will receive a quilt, and take it with her when she leaves. Hackings return from mission in Nebraska Roger and Laura Hacking returned re-turned Oct. 23, 2006, after serving serv-ing an 18-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Nebras ka Omaha Mission. They will be speaking Sunday, Sun-day, Nov. 12, 2006, in the Vernal 3rd Ward, 475 W. 100 S., at 9 a.m. ym grateful to be alive. He climbed into his truck and was preparing pre-paring to pull out on Highway 40 when his cell phone rang. That's about the last thing he remembers about his accident. Bryce was t-boned by another car and received some serious seri-ous injuries. He was rushed by ambulance to Ashley Valley Medical Center. He was given immediate diagnostic treatment which included includ-ed a CT Scan. His mother Christy remembers 11 that the staff came running out of radiol ogy telling her that Bryce needed immediate surgery. His spleen was ruptured, and he was bleeding to death. Dr. David Richards, General Surgeon, and the OR staff at Ashley Valley Medical Center quickly took Bryce to the operating op-erating room where they removed his spleen and stabilized his other injuries. Carol Hirschi, Director of Surgical Services at AVMC was on call that evening and assisted in the life sav ing surgery. The Spencers will speak Sunday, Sun-day, Nov. 12 in the Vernal 6th Ward, 850 West 100 North, at 12:50 p.m. W 1 f Kenneth Smuin Levi Louis Mele Smuin called Mele called to Iowa to serve in mission Oklahoma Kenneth Adair Smuin, son of Kay and Marie Smuin, and Karin and Brent Young, has been called to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Iowa Des Moines Mission. He entered the MTC in Provo on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006. Levi Louis Mele, son of Greg and Kym Mele, has been called to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Oleoma Tulsa Mission. :,i ? : He will speak in the Glines 1st Ward, 1500 South 1400 West, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12. Levi will also speak in the Green River 5th Ward, Green River, Wyo. Stake, on Nov. 26. He enters the MTC on Nov. 29. Steven Bassett with shelter manager Lilyan Baker. Eagle Scout does service for women's shelter Steven Bassett recently completed com-pleted his Eagle Scout project by making kits for children at the women's shelter. There were 50 kits made. The goal was to have a bag of toys for each child to have as his or her own. Children will be able to take the bags with them when they leave the shelter. There are two kinds of kits, one is designed for children seven and under, and the other for children eight and up. Bassett also donated several games to the shelter so mothers moth-ers can play with their children and have a safe, fun environment.
