They are all different differ-ent colors and dorft match my kitchen! - Maria S. Dear Maria, Yes! Painting your mismatched mis-matched appliances is definitely defi-nitely possible with the right kind of paint. Appliance epoxy is the stuff you'll need; it can be found in most paint stores in a wide variety of colors. Daring painters can even go wild and paint the boring white stove a brilliant fuchsia! Epoxy paints are often more toxic than latex or oil based paints and because they're in a spray, they can be a bit harder to work with. That said, just be sure to follow the manufacturer's manufac-turer's recommendations for preparation and application. Since you'll be spraying the paint, you may want to move the appliance outside to avoid any mishaps. Also, to keep yourself safe while working with the epoxy, be sure to have plenty of ventilation ven-tilation in your work area as well as wear proper eye, skin and lung protection. We recommend rec-ommend you wear goggles and a respirator to help minimize any potential dangers. Before you get started, remove any appliance handles and knobs, unless you want them painted, too. Remember to also tape off any adjacent surfaces, sur-faces, such the clock or timer. Once the appliances have been hauled outside, you are ready to start. First, lightly sand the entire surface with fine sand paper. Wipe it down to remove any debris and then add a primer. The primer you " choose will depend on the type of epoxy paint you use. Once that's dry, simply spray on the epoxy in even strokes, watching watch-ing for drips as you go. Add a second coat or a seal as necessary. neces-sary. If painting seems too strenuous, strenu-ous, there are also appliance films that can change the color to mimic stainless steel or any number of other finishes. Stainless steel appliances are wildly popular, but cost hundreds hun-dreds if not thousands of dollars more than your average household house-hold appliance. Stainless films are adhesive backed (just like OTl3DJC7illD 1 .. iiiffiifiiiiifl!ili JSLtSS. : it J J 5 Us CHI "6 OhMllKiilMlJ Kf HEATHER HELLBERG AUDIOLOG1ST, MS.CCC-A YOUR HEARING HEALTH PROFESSIONAL MAKES Or HEARING AIDS. Because your appliances are so visible, be especially meticulous about matching seams, ensuring cuts are square, etc. You'll save a ton of cash by keeping your appliance, and the film should last for years. Is teaching school as easy as some think? Myth: Teaching is an easy job. Reality: Teaching is hard work for low pay. The average aver-age starting salary in Utah is $26,130, while $38,976 is the overall average salary of Utah teachers. For the teacher who hold a Bachelor's Degree, this starting salary can be compared com-pared to that of administrative administra-tive assistants. Teachers often spend their own money to provide pro-vide additional supplies for their students.
