Show , Vernal Express Wednesday, August 23, 2006 g uyAmt nv2& fir ; i I Nera and Miles Batty Battys to celebrate 60 years of marriage On Thursday, August 24, 2006, Miles and Nera Batty will be celebrating 60 years of marriage. They were married August 24, 1946 in Vernal at the home of Ivan and Ella Batty, parents of the groom. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They are the proud parents par-ents of four children, LeeAnne (Pete) Richardson, Ellen (Lloyd) Lemon, Bill (JoElla) Batty, and Randy (Tammie) Batty. They have 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. The group met at Gardner's Park in Dry Fork Canyon for breakfast, cooked by class mates. Attending were classmates class-mates from Utah, Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico. Many comments were Uintah High Class of 1956 holds class reunion The Uintah High School Class of 1956 held their 50th class reunion on Friday and Saturday, August 11 and 12. On Friday there was a catered picnic at Remember the Maine Park pavilion, and on Saturday was the main reunion held in the Grizzly Room at the Weston Plaza. 62 class members mem-bers attended. Some of the classmates hadn't been back to Vernal in 30 years. expressed by those in attendance atten-dance regarding the beautiful flowers on Main Street and the many changes in Vernal. Several classmates in attendance atten-dance had not returned to their hometown since graduation. Highlight of the evening's activities was the presentation presenta-tion of a red and white "Block U" quilt to the lucky winner, Janice Fisher Esplin. Merlene Hall was the reunion chairperson, with a committee of Bob WiUiams, Gene Stewart, Lorin Merkley, Duane Hall, Leora Hazelbush, Elaine Bascom, Lola Peterson, Clyde Burns, and Lila Caldwell.
