They had two more goals from Hyde and another by Matsen. Final score was 8-1 for Uintah. "I was impressed with how we moved the ball with crisp passes," said Jared McKeachnie, Uintah head soccer coach. "I don't want to take anything away from the Granite will, but several of Granite's players play-ers had been dropped from the team from when we first played them," McKeachnie added. Against Wasatch on Friday, Uintah Alex Spendlove scored with a header into the goal. Wasatch responded in-kind making the score 1-1 at the half. Spendlove again scored in the second half and the game was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation. regula-tion. In sudden death overtime, Wasatch scored first to win the game, 3-2. Pitching for Uintah, Chris Reynolds, and good defense held Judge scoreless after the first inning. Uintah struggled at bat until the sixth inning. "The umpire was calling a large strike zone on both teams, which made it harder to get a hit," said Coach Brent Labrum. "I told the team that if they had two strikes and the pitch was close, they had better go for it." In the sixth inning, Joe Lawson led off Uintah's lineup with a single over the middle. He stole second base and in the process, Lucas Kay hit a double dou-ble into the outfield. Lawson scored, putting Uintah up 5-4. They pulled it together and currently cur-rently have a 12-4 record. Assistant Coach Scott Mansfield said the record doesn't rest on the shoulders of just one player. It took the effort of the entire team to make this major comeback. Coach Mansfield said Judge is a tough team to beat and is slowly turning into one of Uintah's main rivals. "They're better than their record," Mansfield said. "Their pitcher pitch-er is pretty good and throws some good pitches our way." Mansfield said he is proud of the team but cautions that the season isn't over yet and the players have a long road ahead. Uintah will play Park City, which is struggling this year, on Wednesday in Park City and Friday will be the last home game of the season against Wasatch.
