The men's team was comprised of Trevor Ashdown, Jeff Ross, Morgan Johnson and Ty Jensen. Shalisa Dean, Kristin Fast, Amber Rich and Caitlin Gudac supplied the talent for the women's team. Coach Worthen expressed her gratitude for the support given to the swim team this season. She was especially appreciative for the Uintah Hilites and Director Reed Hansen for singing the National Anthem at the Carbon meet The Utes swim again on Dec. 9 when they will travel to Wasatch. The U'ettes placed in the top five in the 3A division in all three categories cate-gories . in which they completed. The team took first in Novelty with their unique "slinky" routine, fourth in Dance and fifth in military. Overall, the U'ettes placed second in the 3A division behind Snow Canyon High, and in front of IS other teams. Besides the high placement in the 3A division, the U'ettes took fifth place in the overall competition, which included 60 other teams from all around Utah and in all classifications. classifica-tions. "I am very proud and excited for the team," said their coach Robin McClellan. "We have worked hard over the last few months and thought that we had a chance to do well in the competition." She added that the team is very "gratified that its hard work paid off." There is still room for a lot of improvement, and I expect that it will occur over the next few months," she noted. The U'ettes will compete in several sever-al other competitions before region and state competitions in early 2000. The next competitions will be Dec. 18 at Northridge High School in Layton and Jan. 8 at Delta High School. At Northridge, beside Novelty, Dance and Military, the U'ettes will unveil their prop routine. Uintah will host the Region competition com-petition on Jan. 22. State will be Feb. 5 at Utah Valley State College in Orem. The drill teams members are Lindsie Anderton, Jesenia Batty, Corinne Gardner, Heather Goodrich, Megan Goodrich, Liberti Hoopes, Ashley Horrocks, Jessica Jolley, Brandy Keele, Raquel Kremin, Linsey Larsen, Diane Olsen, Rachel Pipher, Brooke Rollins, Shalyn Searle, K and ice Stewart, Brynn Thomas and Erin Timothy. Ski 2000 registration continues The Uintah Recreation District is now accepting registrations for the 2000 Ski Program. This winter the ski program will be going to Sundance Ski Resort The program begins Saturday, Jan, 15, and there will be a four-week or six-week program Lessons and rentals will also be available. Buses will leave each Saturday from the Vernal Middle School at 5:30 a.m.and will return to the school at about 7 p.m. Cost of the program varies from $170 to $285, not including rentals. Registration will he accepted on a first come basis and w ill he taken at the Recreation Office, 134 West Main, Chamber building.
