Make A Difference Day offers community organizations an opportunity oppor-tunity to create and implement a project that will make a difference, or improvement, in their community. communi-ty. Wal-Mart is partnering with USA Weekend and the Points of Light Foundation for the 8th annual event. The Boy Scouts of America and Jensen Park are two of over 2,300 organizations across the country that have been selected to receive grants. Organizations were challenged chal-lenged to develop a community-based community-based project that would make a difference in the community. Land was donated to Vernal City recently for the construction of a walking park for the community with a purpose of creating a relaxing relax-ing atmosphere where people can walk or sit and enjoy the open space. The Boy Scouts of America organization approached Vernal City to use these funds to purchase trees and plant them in the park. The Jensen Park is the home of the third annual Pumpkin Festival, a free event for the residents of the Uintah Basin. Volunteers set up booths to display hand carved and decorated pumpkins. The grant will help purchase bleachers, playground play-ground equipment and help enhance en-hance the park for the Pumpkin Festival and future events. "We are excited to partner with the organization on this project," said Phippen. "The Make-A-Difference Day projects are a way that our associates can thank this community for the support they have shown us."
