The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Calder of Vernal. She is a 1998 graduate of Uintah High School and is currently employed at Sears. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Montgomery of Vernal. Cultural Arts Club observes end of season The Cultural Arts Club's final meeting of the season was held Wednesday, May 20 at the home of Doris Jones. Maurine Anderson president announced the new officers offi-cers for the coming year: Jean Guy, president; Maude Goodrich, vice president; Mildred Hacking, secretary. secre-tary. The program was given by Gerri Carrol. She and her husband made a trip around the world in 1984, then Gerri and her sister made the same trip February of this year, 1998. They toured 25 countries. Dessert luncheon was served to 14 members and one guest. The summer party will be announced later. An open house was held in the chapel of an LDS Church in Salt Lake City. Over 200 hundred relatives and friends attended. at-tended. Pictures were displayed and a family picture was taken. AVMC pays tribute during nurses week The second week of May was named as National Nurses' Week. In celebration, Ashley Valley Medical Center held a luncheon for all the nurses at the hospital. The event was held on May 12 at noon in the AVMC Conference Center. Chris Midget, chief nursing officer, was the hostess for the event. "We wanted to let all our nurses know how much we appreciate all their hard work and dedication," said Midget, "As a nurse myself, I know how much time they must give to their job and their profession. profes-sion. This is just a small token of our thanks." During the luncheon, Midget presented pre-sented each of the nurses a bag for carrying their belongings in. They also drew for additional prizes. Current Topic Club adjorns The Current Topics Club met May 20 at the home of Meg Hatch, hostess and Linda Anderson, co-hostess. co-hostess. Twenty-two members were present to enjoy a pot luck dinner and final spring meeting. It was agreed by all present to continue with our projects for this year and that all who were able would meet at Zions Bank at 7 a.m. Thursday to plant flowers along North Vernal Avenue. Douglas and Vivian Cline. Cynthia and Burgess were married mar-ried May 21 in the Salt Lake Temple by her grandfather, Jack A. Seitz. The bride graduated from Uintah High School and is currently a senior se-nior in business at BYU and will graduate in December. The groom graduated from Jordan Sororities join together and elect officers Preceptor Pi and Gamma Beta Chapters joined together for the 67lh anniversary Founder's Day banquet of Beta Sigma Pi at Stella's Kitchen. The meeting opened with Dixie Birchell leading the group in the signing of the National Anthem. Those participating in the program were Jean Riddle. Judy Guinn was introduced as a new transferee to Preceptor Pi, and Jacqui Price and Cindy Rose were introduced as new members into Gamma Beta. Awards were presented as follows: fol-lows: Dixie Birchell, girl of the year; Jackqui Price, program of the year; and Mildred Tadlock, girl of the year. There were several perfect attendance recognized. "From Dust Into Stardust" is the theme for the 1998-99 year as announced an-nounced by Jean Riddle, retiring president. Lunch program returns for the summer The Uintah School District is once again going to sponsor the US-DA US-DA summer food program. The program has been successful for several years and has provided many children a place to eat a nutritional nutri-tional meal and spend time together. Lunch will be provided at U.T.E.C. High School located at 250 S. Vernal Ave. from June 3 through July 22. Meal serving lime will start at 11:30 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday. Meals will be served free of charge to children who are 1 8 years of age or younger and will be served to adults at a cost of $2.25. Russell Anderson Supervisor for the school lunch program says, "Come and spend time with some of the best cooks in Vernal, and they will serve your favorites (hamburgers, (hamburg-ers, fries, pizza, etc.) and plenty of the good items like fruits, vegetables vegeta-bles and desserts to melt in your mouth."
