Vernal Express Wednesday, May 27, 1998 13 Two receive scholarships to USU from Vernal City Corey Enloe Enloe receives scholarship Corey Enloe, Vernal, is the recipient recipi-ent of a ColumbiaHCA Foundation scholarship. Corey is the son of Ron and Anita Enloe and plans to attend college this fall. Ron Enloe is employed at Ashley Valley Medical Center, which is an affiliate affili-ate of ColumbiaHCA Healthcare Corporation. This year the ColumbiaHCA Foundation awarded over 1,560 new and renewal scholarships to outstanding students enrolled at accredited ac-credited colleges, universities and vocational-technical schools. For the 199899 school year, the ColumbiaHCA Foundation awarded award-ed over $1.6 million in scholarships to provide educational assistance to the children of employees at ColumbiaHCA affiliates. Recipients of the scholarships are selected competitively on the basis of their academic records and personal per-sonal achievements. Ashley Valley Medical Center wishes to congratulate Corey and wish him well in his college experience. The 1998 Vernal City Scholarship recipients are Jacob R. Irving and David Greene. Both receive $500 from the City which is matched by Utah State University Branch Campus where both will be attending attend-ing school for the 1998-99 year. Irving, who is the son of David and Kathleen Irving, will graduate from Uintah High School this week. He served as President of the Uintah High School Chapter of the National Honor Society and as Senior Class Yearbook editor. He plans to major in biology. He is a Eagle Scout and maintained main-tained a cumulative, four-year 3.76 GPA. He received the bronze, silver and gold medallions for academic excellence from UHS, as well as the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. He is interested in contemporary music, his truck and fishing. Greene is a 1992 graduate of Jacob Irving Uintah High School. He is working at McDonald's and attends Utah State University Branch Campus. He will graduate next year. Lindsey Guest was outstanding female athlete of the year; John Catron, honorary mention for basketball and outstanding out-standing male athlete of the year; Toni Pallesen given special recognition recog-nition for third team allstate; Maretta Collett, NBA sportsmanship; sportsman-ship; Justin Collett award for the long jump; Jeremy Walters 2nd at region 16 golf tournament; Amber Larsen, 2nd in breakaway, rodeo; Bo Douglas, 3rd in team roping; and Toni Pallesen, 4th in goat tying. Cash awards went to: Paige Catron, Conner Egbert, Rhett Tinker, Lindsey Guest, Jamie Bergmeier, Kristen Tinker, Chase Ellsworth and Naomi Brandt. Student Council leadership awards were given to Maretta Collett, Amber Larsen, Toni Pallesen and Stephanie Bull. Honor students who have made a positive contribution to the school and community were awarded the American Citizenship awards: Carley Egbert, Casey Matozevich, Megan Potter, Toni Pallesen, Jason Jarvie, Colter Anderson, Maretta Collett, Chris Bergmeier, Sarah Twitchell and Stephanie Bull was valedictorian. Science and math awards went to Karin Durrant and Carly Egbert; president's education award for improvement, im-provement, Brandy Anderson, Kyle Lamb, Darcy Oliver and Tara Stoll, Amy Rogers, Carly Egbert, Kendra Bull, Laura Durrant, Jennifer Jarvie, Karin Durrant and Leah Cobb. Eight of Manila High School's 1998 graduates were awarded scholarships. Ed Oscarson and Gawam Snow take the oath of office for another term on the Uintah Water Conservancy District Board. They were re-appointed by the Uintah County Commissioners last week.
