A plateful of dense and chewy homemade brownies makes the grade every time. Imagine your kids' surprise when they come home and are greeted with a plateful of chewy Blonde Brownies that you made just for them. These "blondies," crammed full of sweet chunks of Baker's premium white chocolate and nuts, are just the snack kids need to help them tackle that list of math problems. Best of all, they can be mixed up in one bowl in just 15 minutes and that's great news for busy moms. Kids will agree that with these sweet, delicious brownies, going back to school is as easy as 1-2-3. WHITE CHOCOLATE BLONDE BROWNIES 13 cup butter or margarine 12 cup firmly packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup flour 12 teaspoon Calumet baking powder 14 teaspoon salt 4 squares Baker's premium white chocolate, chopped 12 cup chopped nuts Heat oven to 350F. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in white chocolate and nuts. Spread in greased foil-lined 9-inch square pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan. Cut into squares. Makes 16. Wooley Mr. and Mrs. Wooley celebrate 50th anniversary The family of Lester and Fern Bartlett announce the 50th wedding anniversary of their parents. An open house will be given in their honor on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 7 p.m. 9 p.m. at the Tridell Ward Cultural Hall in Tridell. A program will be at 8:30 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Bartlett were married mar-ried in the Salt Lake Temple on Aug. 28, 1945, and have since resided in Tridell. They have been active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have 7 children, 24 grandchildren grandchil-dren and 8 great-grandchildren. m "4 - fC . A crunchy peanut butter and chocolaty snack to take along CHEX MUDDY BUDDIES BRAND SNACK 9 cups of your favorite Chex brand cereals (Corn, Rice andor Wheat) 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 12 cup peanut butter 14 cup margarine or butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 12 cups powdered sugar 1. Pour cereals into large bowl; set aside 2. In 1-quart microwave-safe microwave-safe bowl combine chocolate chips, peanut butter and margarine. mar-garine. Microwave on HIGH 1 to 1 12 minutes or until smooth, stirring after 1 minute. Stir in vanilla. 3. Pour chocolate mixture over cereals, stirring until all pieces are evenly coated. Pour cereal mixture into large resealable plastic bag with powdered sugar. Seal securely and shake until all pieces are well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Stovetop: 1. Pour cereals into large bowl; set aside. 2. In small saucepan over low heat melt chocolate chips, peanut butter and margarine until smooth, stirring often. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. 3. Continue with step 3 above. NOTE: Do not use reduced-fat reduced-fat margarine or butter as it may cause the chocolate mixture mix-ture to clump and will not coat the cereal mixture evenly. Due to differences in microwave ovens, cooking time may need adjustment. These directions were developed using 625 to 700 watt ovens. Makes 9 cups. All the girls and boys are heading back to school.
