' I Joseph Uel Hunting Eagle Scout award earned by Joseph Hunting Joseph Uel Hunting, son of Robert and JoAnn Hunting, will receive his Eagle Scout award during an Eagle Court of Honor to be held Sept 15. Joseph is a member of Troop 235, sponsored by the Naples 1st ward. His leader is Dean Baker. The Eagle Scout project Joseph completed was to repair and weatherproof weath-erproof the pump house at the Naples City Park. He did this with the help of his varsity scout leader, Everett Johnson and members of his troop. Joseph was able to go to the Philmont Scout Ranch for a ten-day hiking trek with a group of scouts from around the region. He has been on staff at Longrifle for two years, Timberline for one year, High Uinta for three years and Webclos Woods for one year. L. Air Force Private completes basic Pvt. Riley D. Allen has completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. During the training, students received re-ceived instruction in drill and ceremonies, cere-monies, weapons, map reading, tactics, tac-tics, military courtesy, military justice, jus-tice, first aid, and Army history and traditions. Allen is the son of James R. and Leann T. Allen of Vernal. He is a 1990 graduate of Uintah High School. Coast Guard apprentice graduates Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Michael S. Bailey, son of Rev. and Mrs. Michael P. Bailey of Vernal, was recently graduated from Coast Guard recruit training. Bailey attended the eight-week training at the Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May, N.J. Among the subjects he studied were first aid, Coast Guard history and seamanship, seaman-ship, communications, damage control, con-trol, firefighting, and physical conditioning. con-ditioning. Children honored parents Joe and Mary Norton Sept. 2 in Vernal at the Colton Pavilion for their 50th wedding wed-ding anniversary. Over 300 guests were in attendance, traveling as far as Virginia and California for the occasion. The Nortons entered the pavilion in a surrey with fringe on top. Mary was wearing a gray bonnet bon-net with flowers and blue ribbon on it, made by her daughter, Sherry Gibbons. Mary's brother, Phil McKowen, played the fiddle. David Gagon escorted the couple to the pavilion and later gave rides to young and old. There was a wedding wed-ding cake as well as refreshments, which were catered. Steve Sprouse furnished music from the '40s and '50s. The Nortons have four children, chil-dren, Sharilyn Gibbons of Lavern, Calif., Kitty Naccarato of Sandy, Michael Norton of Vernal and Jeanne Collins of Riverton. Raymond and Lena Elder and children and Richard Bolton and girls spent the Labor Day weekend with parents, Charlie and Barbara Bolton. Loyal and Odean Cox traveled trav-eled to Draper to attend the Dora Cox family reunion. Dora, at 98 years old, has six children who were all in attendance. Main Street in Vernal. The day's activities will begin with a continental breakfast from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. and will end with a no host lunch at 12:30 p.m. The mini-symposium will cover, educational programs for MS people peo-ple and their families, MS research and new fund raising events that are going on nationally, statewide and locally in the Vernal area. Presenters will be from the Utah Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and will include Norma Belliston, Chapter Services Director; Carol Held, Education Coordinator; and Marsha Gomez, Director of Development All presenters will be available to answer questions during the mini-symposium mini-symposium and also at the no host lunch to follow. Persons who are an MS person or have a friend or relative rela-tive with multiple sclerosis are encouraged en-couraged to attend this informative and educational meeting.
