Two men involved in a Labor Day weekend boating accident on Flaming Gorge Reservoir have been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, lawmen said last week. The 18-foot boat "ran into the canyon wall going about 25 to 30 mph," said Bill Solawett of the state Parks and Recreation Division. "They didn't come close to missing the wall." Brett H. Kemp, 27, Layton and Chad R. Roberts, 28, Kaysville, both were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. And Kemp, who was operating Roberts' boat, was charged with boating under the influence, Solawetz said. Kemp was released on $1,300 bail pending an arraignment in the 8th Circuit Court. Roberts was freed without posting bound, Solawetz said. The suspects were water skiing with two others in the Hideout Canyon area, about 20 miles south of the Utah-Wyoming state line, when the boat plowed into the rocky beach. The front three feet of the boat was destroyed. The impact ripped off the deck, causing up to $5,000 damage to the craft. Robert was water skiing behind the boat and let go of the rope before be-fore impact. Kemp suffered only minor injuries. Solawetz said. The other two passengers were taken to Green River, Wyo., hospital, where they were treated for injuries and released. Red Cloud Loop road section to get gravel The Vernal Ranger' District of the Ashley National Forest announces that the three mile Twin Parks to Government Park section of the Red Cloud Loop road will be surfaced sur-faced with gravel, starting Monday, September 10. The road gravel will be obtained from the Kane Hollow Pit on the East Park Road and trucks will haul the gravel along the Red Cloud Loop road, across Brush Creek, to the Twin ParksGovernment Park Area. Caution signs will be in place, but the public is reminded to watch for the dump trucks and road graders as they travel the Red Cloud Loop in this area. The hours of gravel hauling haul-ing will be 7:00 to 5:30, Monday through Thursday.
