Show raI-Mart store to create approximately 200 jobs Approximately 200 area residents will have new jobs when the Wal-Mart Wal-Mart store opens in Vernal. Construction on the new store, located lo-cated at 1180 West Highway 40, is scheduled to be completed with the grand opening celebration taking , place late this year, according to a news release. Opening of the new 71,312 square-foot Wal-Mart store will greatly impact the Vernal economy in several ways. Area residents, hired as Wal-Mart associates, will fill a variety of job positions including includ-ing department managers, cashiers, sales clerks, receiving clerks, and office clerks. Prior to the store opening, interview dates and locations loca-tions will be announced in local classified sections. In addition to offering associate .jobs, the opening of the new Wal-Mart Wal-Mart store will create local job opportunities op-portunities in the construction and service industries. Other positive economic effects of the Wal-Mart opening in Vernal. include increased retail traffic and increased sales tax revenues for the community. "The goal of every local Wal-Mart store is to become an active part of the community, working with area merchants to enhance Vernal 's role as a retail trade center," said David Glass, the president and chief executive exec-utive officer of Wal-Mart. "We look forward to developing a long-term partnership with the area residents of Vernal." ' ' Wal-Mart plans to demonstrate its partnership with Vernal area residents resi-dents through strong community involvement in-volvement efforts., Each year, a deserving de-serving high school student from the Vernal area will receive a $1,000 scholarship funded by the local Wal-Mart store. Wal-Mart associates associ-ates will also participate in community commu-nity projects by combining locally-raised locally-raised funds with a matching grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation.
