Uintah has a new head baseball coach this year in Hank Nawahine, who was the Ute football mentor in the fall. The Ute assistant coach will be Ed Johnson, who is a former head Uintah baseball coach. It's a good offensive of-fensive weapon, but we can't over do it," said Nawahine. Uintah will open its 1986 baseball season with junior varsity and varsity varsi-ty away games against Grand Junction Junc-tion Central, Tuesday, May 25. Uintah will compete with Spr-ingville, Spr-ingville, May 2 and Pleasant Grove, May 6 in away games. The Utes will host Provo, May 9 and will encounter Timpview, May 13 and Spanish Fork, May 16 in Utah County. The Utes will host Carbon, May 20. The state baseball tournament is set for May 27-31. He talks about what's going on and is well aware of what he needs to do. Fidrych played for the Detroit Tigers a number of years ago. He would talk to the baseball and groom the mound. "Mohar has a strong arm and is a right-handed pitcher. He played some last year. Jaramillo is our right-handed relief pitcher. Weldon Is also a right-hander. He will pitch in relief and will also be a starter. We will use Weldon and Jaramillo quite a bit.' Catchers on the Uintah Ute baseball team are Brian Murray and Gordon Limb. A pro wrestling show was held Saturday night in Salt Lake City and the fans went wild with the wrestling action. Three wrestling rooters were dressed in leather jackets and had long beards, but they were mild and calm when compared to the other fans. Moms, dads and children crowded around the ring and they were the mw.t excited ones. There were two children, a mom and cad located in front of the leather jacket clad fans and a wmtiinjj fan witft a bump on hit head and cat on his fool. Three referees took part in the matches, but it appeared that Elden Rich, a former Roosevelt resident, resi-dent, got most of the boos from the crowd. Stale Hoop Jordan toppled Ogden, 54-51, for the consolation title. The Beetdiggers lost their first five Region Six games, but the Jordan team regrouped, qualified for the state meet and won three out of four games. Mark Powell, former Uintah Ute, is a member of the Jordan High School team.
