The Committee specifically solicits public comment on the appropriateness of establishing the following follow-ing proposed regulations: 1. A visible emission limitation of 40 percent opacity for emissions from residential fireplaces, fireplace inserts, in-serts, and wood and coal burning stoves. The limitation would not app ly during the initial start up period and during refueling. 2. The establishment of a performance standard for new wood and coal burning stoves which would go into effect in 1988. Proposed regulations have been adopted by the Committee for hearing which would establish the above limitations and performance standards. These proposed regulations regula-tions may be modified prior to any final adoption adop-tion based on public input received as a part of the hearing process.
