Show 1 6 Vernal Express wednesdoy, Morch n, 1985 Those who wear glasses 9 Whoever wrote "Men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses" had not seen the, fashion eyewear shown by Ms. Judy Vierra at Seitz Optical Op-tical Eyewear Gallery, Friday. "Glasses are an accessory," said Ms. Vierra. "They should not overpower over-power your face. They should fit it." Eyewear should also compliment your coloring and personality just as any other accessory should. "Your glasses are the first thing about your face that others see." Ms. Vierra is a fashion eyewear consultant con-sultant for Tura frame company and was invited by Tod Tesar, optician at the Eyewear Gallery, to conduct the one day style show and workshop. JUDY VIERRA, eyewear style consultant for Tura Eyewear, drapes a colored scarf on Gail Johnson to help her decide what color of eyewear is right for her. Tesar said he hoped the workshop would educate those who attended about the frames and lenses available and help them make a wise decision when they buy their next eyewear. Ms. Vierra, the daughter of Hal and Carolyn Duke, Vernal, is a native of Vernal and a graduate of Uintah High School. She has worked for Tura for four years and services the state of Utah, all 134 accounts. She visits each account approximately every seven weeks in order to keep them current on the latest fashions in eyewear. Ms. Vierra especially enjoys doing style shows and workshops. "But they are very challenging." She gives a show every month somewhere in Utah. "In many smaller communities people peo-ple think they have to go to the city to see the latest eyewear fashions." Ms. Vierra said and stressed that the newest frames and lense styles are available right here in Vernal. Everything new in the Tura line is shown in Vernal as soon as it is introduced in-troduced in Salt Lake City, she said. Many new colors and styles of eyewear are available for 1985. Ms. Vierra's display included everything from fashionable gold, brown and silver tones to frames in blue, burgundy, burgun-dy, pink and some in a blend of several colors. Tinted lenses are even more popular this year and give a complete look to eyewear. One of the newer looks are faceted lenses in metal frames. "They are the dressiest glasses you can buy and are very popular," Ms Vierra said, as she showed a pair of silver frames to Gail Jenkins. The lenses in these frames were scalloped on the outer edge a new design. They were tinted gray at a v 7 11 V- (j Ik j REFLECTED IN mirror is Dorothy Anderson as Friday. Mrs. Jenkins also tried on some "weightless frames." "Our very newest look," said Ms. Vierra. These frames, made of nylon cord, looked rimless. "I don't feel like I'm wearing glasses," said Mrs. Jenkins. But with Ms. Vierra's help, Gail decided the faceted : frames were the ones for her. "They make your face smile," said Mrs. Vierra. Rimless frames, another of the popular looks, are next in dressiness to the faceted frame, Ms. Vierra explained. ex-plained. Plastic frames give a more casual look and are available in a wide variety of new shapes and shades. "Choosing eyewear depends on the look you want to achieve," Ms. Vierra told Dorothy Anderson as she guided her in making a choice. Mrs. Anderson Ander-son also chose faceted eyewear, which was, "just right for your small features," Ms. Vierra said. , At the workshop, Ms. Vierra also showed the newest eyewear styles for men. She suggested that ideally you should have several pair of frames to wear for different occasions. This is the second show Ms. Vierra has given at the Eyewear Gallery. The first was eight months ago at the Gallery's grand opening. At Friday's workshop, the clientele more than doubled that of the first show. In case you missed Ms. Vierra last Friday, Tesar said they have invited her to give another show and workshop in November.
