The possibility of another second place finish loomed for. Sprouse, but together with his partner the crew won the second and third sets to take first place in the men's doubles. Roosevelt's Burke Eldredge and John Hullinger won the first set by the score of 6 to 3 and then grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second set. A hot shot up the middle by Eldredge gave the team a 15-0 lead. A fine cross court shot by Hullinger made the score 30-0. A wide return by Sprouse and DeLaHunt increased the lead to 40-0 and Eldredge and Hullinger Hull-inger won the first game when Hullinger Hull-inger slapped a shot by his opponents.
