Investigators believe a group of juveniles .who live near the school are responsible for starting for blaze. Three suspects in investigation at Park City High School are juveniles By PATRICK PARKINSON Of the Record staff Three suspects are being fingered for starting a fire that caused about $20,000 in damage to stadium bleachers at Park City High School. "Getting that fixed, I know, is going to be a tremendous expense," Park City High School Principal Hilary Hays said about the damage to the west stands. The blaze, which blackened the seats June 15. likely began from a small campfire a group of kids ignited under the bleachers. Park City Police Department Captain Phil Kirk said. "We're looking at three individuals and we're interviewing them and their parents," Kirk said. "We've interviewed the witnesses too." Charges could be filed against the kids in 3rd District Juvenile Court after the Summit County Attorney's Office screens the case. Nobody was injured in the fire that began around 10:45 a.m. "It looks like the main structure is still intact," Park City School District Superintendent Ray Timothy said. "We need to move forward in making those repairs." Officials hope to complete the repairs before the first home football game scheduled at the high school in August. "[The manufacturer] said we're going to be lucky to make the repairs by the Aug. 28 game," said Steve Oliver, the district's building and grounds director. Meanwhile, the three suspects in the fire live near the high school, Kirk said. The fire damaged the bleachers and padding used for protection at athletic meets. "It was very minimal damage in comparison to what it could have been," Timothy said. "We just have to thank the fire department for their quick response."
