Show Berge wins big at Nationals REC REPORT • Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues, July 9-11, 2008 The Park Record B-8 Parkite Melinda Berge claimed the stars-and-stripes Jersey last week by winning the road race in the 60-64 age division at the 2008 USA Cycling Masters Road National Championships in Louisville, Ky. Berge finished in one hour and 30.29 minutes on the 25mile course. She finished two minutes and 36 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Check their blog for up to the minute information. Park City Municipal will haveWoodstde Gulch and Daly Bypass (Gina's) trails closed within the next week, probably Monday. We are working towards keeping them open over the long weekend, but it Is not guaranteed.The Town loop will remain open: however, users will not be able to descend into Woodside Gulch.They must continue on to Empire Canyon.The project is slated for a 60-90 day implementation (all summer). N o w the daily sunshine and high temperatures are encouraging incredible growth.Trails are somewhat dusty but the wildflowers are spectacular.This will be a huge weekend on our trail system so please take care. Use your bike bells, be courteous, stop at intersections.All the growth makes It hard to see a biker heading your way and could result in a crash. The National Ability Center would like to remind Round Valley Trail users to be careful and watch out for horses and students that are part of their Equestrian Program lessons.Alio trail etiquette says bikers and hikers should give way to horses and bikers should give way to hikers. Unfortunately, the response has been a bit tepid. So far. only 20 kids are signed up for the locals' camp. This is in stark contrast to the 200 out-of-state kids who play in the first two weeks of camp. Filion said local kids need not feel intimidated to participate in the camp. It is open to any level of players, both boys and and girls. Filion says that the potential for Utah hockey players is huge. He suspects that, as the camp returns each summer, more and more locals kids will want to take part.
