By ALEX HENRY Record contributing writer With the meteoric rise of their last album, "St. Elsewhere," due almost entirely to the popularity of the impossibly catchy song "Crazy," expectations are high for this album. That is understandable. And it seems like instead of trying to replicate the success of that album they are setting out to rgveal a completely new side of their unique brand of hip-hop flavored R&B. Unlike the last album with its madcap pace and constantly shifting stylistic approach, which honestly was a little annoying, 'The Odd Couple" pretty much maintains the same slower pace throughout. The album doesn't really have a single stand out track like "St. Elsewhere," so the album is much more consistant SMART REAL ESTATE What's Hot in Local Real Estate on Park City Television Channel I 7 (Wasatch Back) and Channel 102 (Wasatch Front) • Continued from C-1 had to put it out there ourselves," Anderson said. tion to The Donnas concert, As they've grown up together, Rossignol is sponsoring the free with Anderson on lead vocals, Maya Slightly Stoopid concert at The Ford on bass, Allison Robertson on Canyons on Thursday, April 3 at 6 guitar and Torry Castellano on p.m. For The Donnas' concert only drums, their history provides a real 400 tickets are available to the pub- and refreshing break from many of lic. Here, more than ever before, does he sound like an amalgamation of Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye set to a slow-paced hip-hop groove (thanks to Danger Mouse) which is not a bad coupling at all. Their newest album, "Bitchin*" was released in September 2007 and aims to provide rockers with a distraction from everyday worries and include them in the fun The Donnas have on a nightly basis. "The whole reason we wanted to start this band was to have fun. We want our fans to be in on that, too," Anderson said. "It's not like, a secret, and it's not like, only for some people. Its for everybody. It's rock and roll and that's what makes it fun; everyone is supposed to belong." Their experience has also made them more aware of song structure and they aim to deliver higher-quality, multi-layer tracks that Anderson hopes will "immediately make an impression, but then age like a fine wine," as fans discover new parts of the tracks even a number of spins through the CD player. Next week's concert-goers can expect to hear classic Donnas' tunes'. as well as plenty of new material during their 90-minute set. "I feel like this [album] really! comes close to realizing that big1 arena rock record that we've always wanted to put out," Castellano said. If The Donnas promise to bring [ arena rock to Park City, it will be; hard for Park City not to live up to the standard set at their Sundance show. "Hopefully for the people that come to the rock show, we'll put on a great show for them and they'll be' able to head bang and sing along,"' Castellano said.
