Show A-19 The Park Record Wed/Thurs/Fri, September 15-17, 2004 Animal rescue fundraiser scheduled Animal Rescue, a nonprofit animal rescue committed to breaking the chain of animal neglect, abuse and abandonment, is pleased to announce that The Gateway in downtown Salt Lake City is hosting a fundraiser to help homeless animals on Saturday, Sept. 25. The event, "Paws 'n Claws, for a Good Cause," will raise money to provide veterinarian care, food, blankets and toys for homeless dogs, eats and other animals in the care of Wasatch Animal Rescue. From noon to 5 p.m., visitors will enjoy free dog food and cat food samples, kids' face painting, a pet psychic, grooming services provided by professional groomers. a pel parade through the center, plus contests and prizes. Live music will be provided by the Great Basin Street Band' Visitors are invited to bring their dogs to compete in the cos- tume contest dog parade, owner/dog look-alike contest, and silly pet tricks contest. Prizes have been generously donated by many local organizations. Wasatch Animal Rescue and participating vendors will be situated at the north cud of The Gateway near the "dancing waters" of the Olympic Snowflake Fountain. "We are honored that 'l*he Gateway has chosen to host this fundraiser for our organization;" said Shannon Learned, director of Wasatch Animal Rescue. "Downtown Salt Lake City lacks the animal services you can get in other parts of the city, and we hope this event will help spread awareness of the homeless animal problem while identifying the vast amount of resources available to the public."
