Show Mom practices patience Centerville Great Mom faces challenge F - t : ' J KARLYNNE ARBUCKLE t .... J f It ... f - ; - O f ' I i0 . ( . - CENTERVILLE Ponder the difficulties of getting a 6-year-old up, dressed and ready for elementary elemen-tary school. Add to that getting a 12-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl and another 7-year-old boy up, dressed and ready for elementary school. Now, consider having a 3-year-old and a 1 -year-old baby at home to "help" during that chaotic morning morn-ing hour. If one can actually picture this, it is perfectly understandable why Karlynne Arbuckle won Clipper's Great Mom for Centerville. When told she had been chosen as the Great Mom, Karlynne said, "This is really a nice surprise. I don't know who submitted my name, but this is really great.' Although it would appear that there wouldn't be much time left in a day for hobbies, Karlynne finds the time to work in her yard. "The children don't like to work in the yard, but they sure like to plant in it," explained Karlynne. Another task tackled by the Great Mom is that of keeping scrap books on the family. Each member of the family has their own book and when anything happens, it is recorded in the book. "It has been fun," stated Karlynne. ' ' Whenever anything happens, the children say, 'This goes in the book.' We save everything." every-thing." Karlynne's husband Alan, is the service manager at Freeway Heating and Air Conditioning. "I keep a book on Alan, too," said - Karlynne. "I guess," said Karlynne, "the hard thing about being a mother is to know how to handle things when one of the children gets into trouble." "Sometimes it is hard to have all the patience I need, Karlynne stated. However, with four children in grade school, she finds the patience to help each of them with homework, while attending to the needs of the two younger children. Facing that challenge alone would be enough to earn Karlynne the Great Mom award. A family vacation trip to Arches National Park is the setting for this Arbuckle family photo. Seated along the sandstone ledge are Kelly, Troy, Amy, Mindy (on lap), and Marcus (rear) who is holding Tyler.
