Norman Bangerter has proclaimed pro-claimed April as Utah Immunization Immuniza-tion Action Month for all counties in Utah. The theme of this year's effort is "Extinct? Not Childhood Diseases!" The main focus of this year's campaign will be raising immunization immuniza-tion levels among preschool age children. Childhood diseases still pose a threat to children who are not immunized, according to Bangerter. A statewide survey conducted in 1990 indicates that more than half of 2-year-olds were not adequately immunized. According to Rick Crankshaw, coordinator of the Utah Department of Health Immunization Program, "There is a direct correlation between be-tween the decrease in childhood immunization levels and the increased in-creased incidence of preventable diseases. As an example, Crankshaw indicated in-dicated that more cases of measles (147) occurred in Utah last year than in any year since 1976.
