Show Arda M. Hatch Arda Margaret Neilson Hatch, age 91, of Woods Cross, passed away March 28, 1991, in a local hospital of resniratorv failure following sureerv. r She was born Sept. 2, 1899, in Mt. Pleasant, to Victor A. and Evelyn Brandon Neilson. She married mar-ried Willard S. Hatch April 11, 1923 in Farmington. Farm-ington. He preceded preced-ed her in death, Dec. 31, 1969. She recipient of its distinguished "President's Award" for being a pioneer leader in Utah trucking. She was honored by the American Legion and Job Service in 1977 and received an award in behalf of her company for Veteran employment practices. In 1978, the Bountiful Area Chamber of Commerce honored Mrs. Hatch as a trucking pioneer and presented her with its annual Outstanding Service to the Community Communi-ty award. Member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Alta Club, Salt Lake Country Club, Ambassador Club and Pioneer Theater Guild. Survived by nieces and nephews, Carol Mills, Lawrence Mills, Dick Neilson, all of Salt Lake City; Raymond Ray-mond Neilson, Clear Lake Oaks, Calif.; Barbara N. Bybee, Bennion; Char la Neilson, Ukiah, Calif.; several grand-nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother, Ray Neilson, and sister, Beth Mills. Funeral services were held March 30, at Larkin Mortuary chapel, with Jay Larkin conducting. Interment was in the Bountiful City Cemetery. lived most of her adult life in Woods Cross. She co-founded W. S. Hatch Co. (HATCHCO trucking) with her husband hus-band in 1936, serving as vice president presi-dent (1946-1969) and president (1970-1986). In 1986, the company celebrated its 50th anniversary. In December of 1986, HATCHCO was sold to Jack B. Kelley, Inc. In 1977, she was named "Utah's First Lady of Trucking" by the Utah Motor Transport Association and was the |
