The Davis School District and its Adult High School Program has in- troduced a competency-based edu- cation opportunity for adults who ' wish to earn credit toward their diploma. j The courses are self-paced and presented in an easy-to-operate J computer format. In the past one j credit could take up to 60 hours to I earn, but with this computer pro-; pro-; gram, the hours can be greatly t reduced. Students take a pretest to evaluate their present educational j needs. They then follow a series of J computer-aided instructional units ' designed to help them learn the ma-j ma-j tcrial. After completing the units, S they take a computer test to ! demonstrate their competency and ! mastery of the subject. ! The new program is offered at i the Davis Applied Technology j Center (DATQ in Kaysville and is taught by Linda Trainor.
