Show Citizens urged to view pipeline program Members of the Bountiful Hills Residents and Concerned Citizens Association, Inc. (BHRCCA), are encouraging Davis County residents to view a television program pro-gram regarding the Wasatch Variation Varia-tion of the Kern RiverWyCal pipeline today, Saturday, Oct. 20. "The West" which airs on channel 2, at 6:30 p.m., will discuss the Wasatch Variation pipeline issue facing Salt Lake, Davis and Morgan counties. Members of the BHRCCA said the program will present, "unbiased, investigative reporting of the issue." The group is also planning a press conference Oct 23, at 10 a.m. The conference will be held outside Hansen's office at 60 S. 200 W., Farrnington. All interested parties are invited to attend. On Feb. 20, Jim Hansen, Representative Rep-resentative for Utah's First Congressional Con-gressional District, introduced a bill which would preclude the Wasatch Variation natural gas pipeline route. Since then, H.R. 4023 has languished lan-guished in committee and has not advanced to the floor for consideration considera-tion by the full House. Consequently, the Bountiful Hills Residents and Concerned Citizens Association, Inc. (BHRCCA) will ask Hansen what he intends to do or not do regarding H.R. 4023. Currently, there are two pipelines proposed to use the Wasatch Variation. Varia-tion. Both plan to begin construction construc-tion early next year. Both pipeline companies have started condemnation condemna-tion proceedings against private lands for their right-of-ways. The BHRCCA will press Hansen to represent rep-resent his constituents and pass H.R. 4023. The BHRCCA will also ask Hansen to explain why he did not consolidate H.R. 4023 with H.R. 5579 before the House Subcommittee Subcom-mittee on Mines and Mining, Oct. 3. H.R. 5579 has bipartisan support, and good prospects for passage. According to members of the BHRCCA, Hansen could have easily eas-ily attached H.R. 4023 as an amendment to H.R. 5579 and precluded construction of the Wasatch Wa-satch Variation route. "Sadly Rep. Hansen did not even give a speech," said Dave Brown of the BHRCCA. |
