Show D. Leon Johnston BOUNTIFUL-David Leon Johnston died at home, at 7:30 a.m., March 11, 1990, after a long siege of illness with cancer. He was born May 27, 1918 to David A. Johnston and Ivy Manning in Clinton. He married Marian M. DeWitt Sept 17, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Tem-ple. He was H 1 i. Stake executive secretary for seven years. He was a member of the Bountiful Ninth Ward bishopric, and held numerous nu-merous teaching and administrative assignments in the priesthood and auxiliary organizations of the church. He loved all kinds of sports and played baseball and softball until he was 52 years old. He served in World War II as a lieutenant (JG) in the supply corps as disbursing officer, and saw active duty in the South Pacific for two years. He is survived by his wife and four children, Gregory L. (wife, Loma) of Bennion; Gary A. (wife, Debbie) of Newark, DeL; Carol Dee Hansen (husband, Tim L.), North Salt Lake; Mari-Lynn Wilson (husband, E. Bradley), Plymouth, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; five brothers, one sister, James M. and M. Fred of Hooper; J. Earl, Brigham City; Elwood S. and A. Kent, Clinton; Jeannine DeWitt, Sunset. Funeral services were held March 15, in the Bountiful 3 1st Ward chapel. educated m Davis County Schools and graduated from the Utah State University in Logan June 1940. Later graduated from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City with an M.S. degree June 1941. He served an LDS mission to the Eastern States Mission from July 1941 to August 1943. He was an active ac-tive member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many prominent positions, including member of the Bountiful Stake High Council for 13 years and Bountiful |
