Show MJHS's Wind Ensemble takes first in statewide competition The Millcreek Junior High School Wind Ensemble really showed its stuff, May 5, as it placed first at the statewide band competition held at Snow College. While the band took first among the 13 competitors, it was also one of only four bands to receive a rating of 'superior.' The ensemble performed "Chesford Portrait" by James Swearingen, Hugh M. Stuart's "Three Ayres from Gloucester" and James D. Ployhar's "Lethbridge Overture. ' ' Band director Jerry Huff led flautists Derek Kin-sgton, Kin-sgton, Andrea Braithwaite, Danielle Facer, Stephanie Feller, Michelle Harris, Kimberly Neilsen, Jennifer Preston, Gina Stirk, Tiffany Stock, Jodi Summers, Ten Tim merman, Diane Tinsley, Karolyn Walch and Brooke Barlow. Bass clarinetists are Thomas Berts and Scott Beynon, with oboist Kathleen Miner. Clarinetists are Rebecca Wilson, Sue Ann Bangerter, Julie Bradford, Kristina Healy, Jamie Lovoi, Michelle McCabe, Brett Peterson, David Plowman and Jennifer Wilson. Saxophonists include Billy Mattingly, Jacob Lowell and Ryan Pack on alto, and R.J. Smith on tenor. Other band members include: Michael Moody and Jenna Howick on French horn, Jason Thorton on baritone and Tyler Russon on tuba. Trombonists are Rick Biesinger, Bryan Taylor, Jeff Evans, Danny Blan-chard Blan-chard and Nate Okerlund. Justin Holzer, Howard Summers, Nate Crane, Briam Johnson, Mike Terrill and Mike Yeates all performed on trumpets. Percussionists included Ryan Winagcr, Troy Holzer, D.J. Dewy, Tod Hunigton and Bryan McCrae. y |
